Has anyone noticed

the price of gas (at least in my commute area) has dropped nearly almost $.40 in the past few weeks.

It was the beginning of August and I paid $3.249 for a Gallon. I filled up today and paid $2.849 per gallon.

The price of oil has remained high. BP stopped production in Alaska for awhile to fix the pipeline and it is the WEDNESDAY before the last major holiday of the summer.

So, WHY is gas so low? (relatively speaking of course). Or is it just my greater Sacramento/Bay Area commute that has gone dizzy.
